Gjere & Kath Repeat Winners At The Creek

Spring Valley, MN (June 10)

By: Todd Narveson

Another large field of 125-cars were on hand for Podein’s Power Equipment night at Deer Creek Speedway. Rain was in the forecast and on the way, but that failed to materialize and the show was completed.

The Kid’s Dreams Come True USRA B-Mods were one car short of the 40 needed to have two features. They ran four heats races and two B-Mains to qualify drivers for the 26-car feature field.

Zach Brom drew the pole and led all 18-laps for his first win of the season. Brom held off a late challenge from Joe Chisholm for the win. Chisholm, Taylor Ausrud and Hunter Kennedy had a race long battle behind Brom

Brom became the 10th different winner in 11-shows for far this season. Chisholm was second with Ausrud in third. Kennedy finished in fourth and Garitt Wytaske was fifth.

Seventeen Meadow Greens Golf Course USRA Hobby Stocks took the green flag for their 18-lap feature. Chris Hovden took the early lead but was chased by Nick Schwebach. Hovden ran the high side while Schwebach used the low groove.

Schwebach was able to challenge, but was unable to make the pass. A yellow on lap 16 set up a dash to the finish. Hovden held on for his second win of the season with Scherbach in second. Caden Helle finished third with Devin Holthaus fourth and Parker Anderson fifth.

Another large field of 28-Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were on hand this week. Don Schaefer led early while Jayme Hiller challenged him. A caution on lap four set up a wild start.

Tommy Myer and Kadden Kath bolted past Schaefer and Hiller to take first and second. The race was a caution filled race and eventually was cut five laps after five cautions waved during green flag action.

With the laps cut, Kath led the final three to win his second in a row. Jacob Toepper started 13th and edged Myer for second on the final lap. Hiller was fourth and Brandon Underdahl was fifth.

Levi Schott led the Rochester Chevrolet USRA Stock Car feature until he just about spun in front of the field. Schott regained control but lost several spots. Brayden Gjere took over the lead and took off from there.

Gjere led the rest of the way for his second win in a row as well. Kyle Falck ran in second with Travis Shipman third. Jake Lampert ran from 10th to fourth and Schott wound up fifth.

Kylie Kath took the lead from the pole to start the Napa Auto Care Centers USRA Modified feature. Kath ran the top side of the track while Rodney Sanders ran down low. That duo was side-by-side for several laps. It was a great race until Kath broke on lap nine ending his run.

Sanders led the rest of the race to pick up the win. Lucas Schott would finish in second while Jim Chisholm raced from 12th to third. Brandon Davis started 16th and finished fourth and Jacob Bleess was fifth.
